As a full-scale and diversified service provider, H3M supports multiple energy sectors, commercial real estate, forestry, municipalities, and utilities. We support pre-construction, construction, and post-construction requirements of projects, managing our client’s assets from inception through to their retirement and reclamation.

H3M is growing, and we are seeking a motivated, adaptable, and visionary industry leader to join our growing organization as our VP, Environmental, Alberta. The VP will support the growth of the organization through consistent strategic planning, business development, and client cultivation. Business Expansion and Growth

  • Maintain awareness of both the external and internal competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers, markets, and new industry developments and standards. Cultivate opportunities the organization can leverage and pursue for its advantage.
  • Foster and maintain existing relationships as they pertain to the H3M brand, its growth, and objectives.
  • Identify market opportunities and create strategic plan to capitalize on emerging trends that align with the overall corporate objectives.
  • Expansion of Alberta based operations by cultivating new external stakeholder relationships and expanding current client base.
  • Contributing to sales innovations, strategic business development, and the profitability of the company as determined by the company’s strategic goals.

Corporate Strategy

  • Formulate and implement the strategic plan that guides the direction of a team’s business or its area of functional responsibility, such as developing a strategic marketing plan.
  • Responsible for the development and preparation of short-term and long-range plans and budgets based upon broad organization goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for the definition of structure and execution of strategic initiatives through the development of work plans, gathering and generation of relevant data, driving analyses, and the development of actionable recommendations.
  • Assisting in managing company finances, identifying ways to increase revenue and decrease costs, analyzing financial reports, and preparing operating budgets.
  • Presents periodic performance reports and metrics to the CEO/President and other members of the leadership team.
  • Monitor Strategic Risk. Work with the business’s executives and stakeholders to evaluate overall performance against targets and make necessary adjustments as is necessary.

Leadership and Culture

  • Leading, guiding, directing, and evaluating the work of other employees, such as Directors and Managers, and ensuring a healthy working environment.
  • Review and implement corporate objectives, ensuring alignment with the company vision and core values
  • Accountable for overall performance of each division including teammate development and motivation
  • Architect and execute integrated management and leadership development and processes to drive professional growth and accountability across the organization
  • Ongoing consultation with business and department leaders to understand their leadership and management development needs for input and the appropriate sponsorship, engagement, and alignment

Qualifications and Skills:

Experience and Education

  • University degree in an environmental discipline (e.g. biology, environmental science, environmental engineering, geography, earth science, or soil/reclamation science)
  • MBA or equivalent graduate degree preferred
  • 10 years of industry-related experience including 3 years in upper management required
  • Experienced and knowledgeable of Alberta and BC Contaminated Sites Regulations, Certificate of Restoration process within the oil and gas industry, British Columbia Oil and Gas regulations as they pertain to remediation and reclamation.
  • Demonstrated effective business development record
  • Ability to execute on multiple projects with extensive detail coordination and program management
  • Member or eligible for membership with an environmentally related professional association (e.g. P.Ag, ASct, R.P.F, R.P.Bio, P.Eng, P.Geo, P.Chem, etc.) would be beneficial.

Technical Skillset

  • Up to date knowledge of all activities and processes related to the environmental regulatory processes across jurisdictions including, Alberta, British Columbia
  • Strong technical computer skills across various position relevant programs including but not limited to MS Excel, MS Project, SharePoint, GIS, and Power BI.
  • Knowledge of front-end environmental assessments and the associated Environmental Protection and Management Regulation

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with an emphasis on client retention, relationship management and team building.
  • Natural mentorship capacity both in coaching and transferring expertise to the team.
  • Effectively leverage industry contacts to build overall client base and market reach
  • Proactive, action-oriented individual.
