Dillon is a well-established, employee-owned professional consulting firm operating across Canada and internationally. We provide a wide range of consulting and design services related to the infrastructure, real estate, resource, industrial and government sectors in Canada and abroad.

We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Senior Environmental Engineer/Geoscientist in our Calgary, Alberta office.


  • Contribution and leadership in the implementation of Dillon’s strategic growth plan and operational business plans within Alberta and across western and northern Canada
  • Leadership in the development and enhancement of relationships with existing clients
  • Leadership in the identification and development of new business opportunities with both private and public sector clients
  • Commitment to being part of a learning organization, to providing leadership and contributing to the career development of junior/intermediate staff, including providing technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring in the delivery of Phase I,II,III and remediation projects
  • Contribution to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees, as well as continued fostering of client relationships
  • Management of environmental projects including environmental site assessments, ongoing monitoring programs, hydrogeological studies and site remediation projects
  • Development of risk management and/or remedial action plans and assistance in the design of site remediation options, including completion of feasibility studies of environmental remediation options
  • Work with remediation technical teams on development of site remediation options and/or contaminant site management options.
  • Contribution of expertise related to the environmental regulatory regime in Alberta, as well as neighboring provinces and territories
  • Design and oversight of environmental investigation/sampling programs (soil, soil vapour, groundwater, surface water)
  • Preparation and technical review of written reports, compilation and revision of contracts and other supporting documentation
  • Travel to other business locations and Dillon offices for the purposes of client relationship development, opportunity/project research and project delivery, as necessary


  • A degree in engineering, geoscience, , hydrogeology or a related environmental field
  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer or geoscientist in the province of Alberta
  • A minimum of 10 – 15 years’ experience in environmental consulting and/or related work experience within Alberta working on contaminated sites


  • Strong background in several of: collection and analysis of field data, environmental site assessments, chemistry, geology, hydrogeology, remediation engineering, site characterization, environmental management, health and safety
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation and policies, including the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environmental guidelines, Alberta Environmental Code and Alberta Environmental Quality Guidelines
  • Technical capabilities and knowledge of contaminated sites regulation in Alberta and credibility with AEP
  • Upstream/Midstream/Downstream experience will be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated success in the leadership of multidisciplinary project teams and business development
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and plan work to meet time-based deliverables and adapt to changing expectations
  • Strong proficiency in proposal and report writing, presentations, communications, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of AUTOCAD, GIS, Surfer, GINT, ESdat or database abilities will be an asset
