Due to continuing growth, we are seeking an Environmental Engineering Project Manager with experience in contaminated sites and remediation to join our Contaminated Assessment and Remediation Team in our Calgary, AB office.


  • Develop and manage a portfolio of projects & clients
  • Develop business with existing as well as new clients
  • Direct technical work (contaminated sites investigations, remediation programs, etc.) on projects and supervise junior and intermediate staff
  • Issue reports and liaise with clients
  • Work in cooperation with a multi-disciplinary project team to complete projects incorporating contaminated sites investigation and remediation, solid waste management, building decommissioning, and waste discharge permitting
  • Data compilation, analysis, and evaluation using the application of engineering principles and problem solving skills
  • Prepare technical documents, including work plans, reports, and correspondence
  • Prepare project support documents, including health and safety plans
  • Communicate with vendors and contractors
  • Manage and oversee field work, including environmental monitoring, drilling oversight, and remediation contractor oversight
  • Sound understand for provincial and federal acts, regulations and guidelines
  • Prepare and issue proposals
  • Other duties as assigned/required

Report Writing:

  • Create technical reports
  • Create charts and figures
  • Prepare project related memorandums/letters
  • Proposal writing and cost estimates

Project Management:

  • Coordination of field activities, management of field personnel, analytical program set up, and supervising/working with subcontractors
  • Coordinate technical resources and personnel including drafting, database, chemistry, and other staff through duration of project
  • Lead special projects as needed

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering
  • P.Eng. designation with APEGA
  • 8-12 years of consulting experience in the environmental field in AB
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Self-starter and finisher, detail orientated, flexible and a great teammate
  • Focused on growing the practice and expanding clientele under the direction of the Division Manager
  • Business focused
  • Proficient with the provincial (AB Tier 1/Tier 2 Guidelines, Surface Water Quality Guidelines, AER Directives, etc.), and the federal (CCME) guidelines for contaminated sites assessments
  • Experience with environmental investigation of Alberta sites
  • Extensive experience with supervision of junior and intermediate staff
  • Positive attitude, safety-mindedness, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong technical writing, data analysis, and interpretation skills
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage a variety of concurrent tasks, and willingness to meet challenging deadlines
  • A motivated, self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Working knowledge of environmental assessment and remediation with Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan environmental regulations and guidelines is required
  • Extensive field experience is required
  • Willing and able to travel for work
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project and Outlook
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Must hold a Class 5 AB Driver’s license
