Role:

We are seeking a Junior Air Quality Scientist in our Calgary, Alberta office to assist our current teams with consulting projects across western Canada. The proposed role within our central Canada business would be someone who could perform air quality field duties, collecting data to support various environmental programs, as well as submit regular reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular sampling at air quality monitoring stations, ensuring that proper sample handling and chain of custody procedures are followed.
  • Liaise with the labs performing the sample analyses ensuring analysis schedules are being followed, and reporting the lab analysis data.
  • Download continuous monitoring data currently being collected and perform analyses and reporting of the measurement data.
  • Follow established health and safety policies.

Technical Skills / Abilities / Experience:

  • The ideal candidate possesses experience working with air quality monitoring samplers and associated equipment, instrumentation and measurement tools/techniques. Other environmental sampling expertise would be an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated skill in technical report writing
  • Knowledge and practical application of health & safety requirements unique to air quality assessments
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly and conduct fieldwork
  • Work well independently including ability to work alone in remote locations and adapt to conditions/resources

Education / Qualifications / Memberships:

  • Degree or technical diploma in environmental science, geological sciences, engineering or related studies
  • Professional status or eligibility for professional status with a professional organization (e.g., APEGA, ASET, P.Chem., P.Geo., P.Bio. in Alberta) would be an asset
  • Valid driver’s license
