North Shore is currently seeking an Intermediate Environmental Consultant with a strong background in assessment and remediation. The successful candidate will support our Reclamation and Remediation Team, based out of Sherwood Park, Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:
• EPEA Soil & Groundwater Programs
• Executing groundwater monitoring projects within western Canada.
• Executing soil monitoring and management programs within western Canada. Comfortable with ground disturbance and working on active oil & gas facilities.
• Prepare technical reports associated with soil and groundwater projects.
• Assist with the preparation of remedial action plans associated with contaminated sites.
• Reclamation & Remediation Programs
• Coordinating and executing Phase 2 ESA, remediation, and reclamation projects.
• Developing and implementing field plans for the above projects within western Canada.
• Compiling various technical documents including Phase 2 ESA reports, remediation reports, and regulatory closure applications.
• Spill Remediation
• Executing assessment and remediation activities associated with spill programs in western Canada in multiple ecosite types (forested, agricultural, wetlands, open water bodies, etc).
• Support client personnel with containment and recovery operations on select projects.
• Preparation of technical reports, plans, and client documents.
• All programs require a strong ability to:
• Coordinate and supervise heavy equipment and other third-party contractors as required within western Canada.
• Manage client budgets, track project statuses, and make recommendations to progress sites towards regulatory closure.
• Work closely with interdisciplinary groups (Technical Resource Group, Data Management Group, Spill Group, Biophysical Group, and Vegetation Group) to successfully execute client projects and programs.
• Provide support to senior staff as required.

Qualifications:
• 4+ years of consulting experience related to environmental assessments, remediation, reclamation, and/or environmental science.
• Proficient at completing environmental reports.
• A good understanding of upstream oil and gas regulatory requirements in Alberta will be considered an asset.
• Knowledge and experience working with various types of farming and heavy equipment.
• Groundwater experience will be considered an asset.
• Willingness to travel and be in the field as dictated by project requirements.
• Technical Diploma or University Degree in environmental science or related discipline.
• Eligibility to obtain professional designation with an organization such as the Alberta Institute of Agrologists is an asset.
• Excellent communication, writing, and problem solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and database entry.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Good physical health and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
• Willingness to work within a team environment.
• Highly organized and have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Preference will be given to candidates with 4 years of directly related experience in the upstream oil and gas industry and who are eligible to obtain a professional designation. Previous experience with executing various assessment, reclamation, and remediation projects will also be considered an asset. Compensation will be based upon the candidate’s experience.
